We need to know what foods are alkalizing in order to reach, or keep, our bodies in a healthy pH range.
In our bodies a pH of 1.0 to 6.0 is considered acidic, 7.0 is neutral and 7.1 and beyond is alkaline. The lower the pH number, the more acidic our bodies are, and the more likely we are to have health issues to include cancer. A higher pH tends to correspond with health.

Note: Citrus fruits, which are acidic, do not have an acidifying effect on the body. Instead, the citric acid they contain has an alkalinizing effect in the body.In contrast, meat will test alkaline before it is eaten, but upon digestion it leaves an acidic residue in the body. Meat is very acid forming.
